Video 12 – How to Remove Collections

Transcription of How to Remove Collections #12

Collection, OK. It happened five years ago, ugh, medical bills, we see those all the time. Medical bill gets divorced off, the insurance company doesn’t pay it. You don’t even hear about it, next thing you know it’s on your credit report from some company you’ve never heard of for the $50 that didn’t get paid on the $2,000 procedure. And now you’re closing in on a mortgage and that thing is sticking you in the heiny. The procedure would go something like this: The first thing that you do is go to the credit bureau and you say gee you don’t think this is accurate. There’s different aspects we can pick on. It’s kind of like testing the links in a chain. It could be identification, it could be amounts, it could be dates, it can be authority to collect. Many different aspects that you do, you start auditing this information. I don’t believe this is right, you need to be able to prove it. Funny thing about collection companies, they don’t have very complete files, ok. So if we can draw on something that they can’t prove within a reasonable amount of time, it puts them in a precarious position. They can’t legally collect that debt, they can’t report it. I don’t have a problem with that. Not that I am an advocate of not paying your bills, but if they’re not collecting it properly and they’re not the original creditor I think it’s prefectly permissable to put them in a spot to say hey dot your I’s and cross your T’s. If you can’t do that, get that sucker off of my credit report. I’m going to go get my mortgage.
